Restoration, Conservation
Delicate and translucent construction scaffolding supports a thick fur collar that, draped over miniature I-beams, takes on the gesture of the living form of which it was once part. Crude equivalencies between animals and the feminine, as well as femininity associated with the luxury and accessory of fur weigh heavily on these supports. The rapid prototype, designed digitally and able to be printed in any number of materials, is generated as a copy without an original, phrasing not dissimilar to Judith Butler’s description of how gender is constructed.
